I'm having a problem with getting the wifi to work on my old OPi2. I tried editing the script as per ...

Did you use "orangepi2.bin" when the installer asked to choose fex file? (it's the last step before finishing the installation). If not, you should reinstall your system, because using an incorrect fex file can lead to problems with accessing the hardware components.

Anyway, the Wi-Fi chip used in Orange Pi 2 seems to be a Realtek RTL8189ETV (according to official website of Orange Pi), which is the same as Realtek RTL8189ES (according to sunxi-wiki). There is already a "8189es.ko" file included in the modules folder in H3Droid, so you should try loading this module manually by typing in "su" to get superuser access for the system then typing "insmod /system/vendor/modules/8189es.ko" in the system shell (you can use SSH, ADB for that, or Terminal Emulator if you already rooted your device with a rooting tool). Also, don't forget to type in "dmesg" command after that, so you can see if the driver has loaded succesfully or not. After that, you should be able to turn on WiFi and connect to networks. If you can't, try to turn off Ethernet connection (if it present) and try to swtich on and off Wi-Fi quickly. In my case, it made the system crash and reboot, but after the reboot Wi-Fi worked perfectly (however, I used an Orange Pi Zero with XR819 WiFi chip, so this process can be different on your board).

Hello All!

I know it has been a few days but finally version 1.2.5 is being released!!

H3Droid version 1.2.5 is now available for download!

There have been a lot of updates in this release (Note: 1.2.4 was skipped as a maintenance release):

1.2.4 (Unreleased):
- Added missing i2c modules
- Added file.img creation
1.2.5:
- Rewrote file.img/loop creator (should require fewer dependencies now)
- Added some usbserial modules (most notably ch341.ko, cp210x.ko and ftdi_sio.ko)
- Fixed /sbin/busybox executability
- Removed some chinese settings
- Fixed sdio autodetection - (This fixes both dongle and SDIO detection, wifi should now work out of the box!)

We look forward to hearing your feedback, because of you we are currently at 232 downloads and climbing!

Remember, the more feedback we get, the quicker bugs will be addressed and resolved!

You can post here on orangepi.org or you can use the feedback form on our site!

Thanks again for all your support!

Cheers!

Hello @JRios,
While we appriciate your enthusiam and help....

There is a reason we do not provide images.  It is easy enough for you to generate your own and people can place malware and extra items into the image unexpectedly and then redistribute our image without our knowledge.

Also, there are many u-boot and FEX combinations to use, there isn't any specific set that is compatible with all boards, so using an image without the correct settings could cause the user to be let down by the image because they find things don't work right, generating additional support requests for us.

We would suggest that all users of H3Droid download the installer from our official site and create their own image using it instead of downloading content from untrusted sources as we can not ensure the image hasn't been tampered with.

Documentation on how to use the image creator is planned, but if you review 00_conf file you should see how this is to be completed.

If you ABSOLUTELY NEED a image you are welcome to come to our IRC channel and we will generate one specifically for you, your board and provide it from our CDN instead of some public upload service.

@wicttor19  this image is still beta so you must use the Linux installer.  Once things switch to stable we will most likely be providing a installer  for Windows and Mac.

We do not provide this purposely with our beta releases because you should have at least limited knowledge of Linux to be able to help us test things and provide feedback as there are many advanced options in this image which need tested.

Cheers!

Hi,

I wish to test H3droid but how do you build the image ?
I changed path to image file in conf, then run script but it complains about file: can't get size of /home/root/h3droid.img

did you uncomment whole file.img example section? do you have all required tools? do you have enough rights to write? is loop module/device available? also, pastebin of the config and output/error would be helpfull
