Does anyone have any step by step on how you put Ubuntu or any other Linux onto the Orange Pi 3G IOT B?I have tried following instructions and have "bricked" one and I have found people who say they have solved it but give no details.

Hopefully we can pull all our information into one place and work together to find linux success!

Tools:
https://mega.nz/#F!WGwUhAZJ!xcc_4wd_UG_0OLruixz3ww

Manual:
http://www.orangepi.org/orangepi ... TgwNjd8Mzg4Ng%3D%3D

Note: Pg 6 "You have to download the SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1644_Win.zip on Window" - This is infected with a virus

1) Why is there Ramdisk and Kernal configuration and where would you apply that? Pg 12, 13

2) How do you serial console onto it? I can see there are serial pins but they still need power: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepi ... tra=page%3D1&page=3

Do you use the TX1 and TX1 and DC5?

3) How do you replace the stock android that it comes with, with the linux image?
a) Is it a process of loading an image onto an SD Card then loading the emmc from that?
b) Is there a way to load the linux image onto the emmc after booting using the preloaded Android os?

Do you have any other tips or things you have tried?

Thanks for being part of this, we need your skills.
Steps as per other peoples suggestions:
1. Download driver:
Note: Virus detected in https://mega.nz/#F!WGwUhAZJ!xcc_4wd_UG_0OLruixz3ww!rGhSzJBL however this is a false positive (no virus found once extracted)
2. Install Mediatek driver from step 1
3. Download Flash Tool from https://mega.nz/#F!WGwUhAZJ!xcc_4wd_UG_0OLruixz3ww!mCJG3DgT
4. Open Flash tool, load scratter file "MT6572_Android_scatter.txt"
5. Click Download button
6. Connect orange pi to your computer (insert all jumpers of orange pi)
Flash done.

Thank you.
Were you using Windows to flash?
I downloaded the driver even though Windows Defender said it found a virus. Once I expanded it, Windows Defender could not find any virus or malware.
However Windows still didnt detect the Orange Pi.

Does anything need to be done with regards to the Kernal and removing Ramdisk? (Page 4 of the linux build manual)

It's for building OS.
For you, you should read User Manual.

Yes, I flash it using windows 7. So Windows Defender is not my problem. If it detected as virus. Try download Flashtool on Google.
