Nothing, it just works. Board is connected through ethernet. After boot, internet works and clock is ...It may be a difference in ISP's. It worked as you said, for a while, but, soon needed a kick to keep the time & date in sync.
The BTW:
I know that site, appears to be down, only the apache server (place holder) is loading. I think it will be back, it's too well known, used and supported, to just go away.

I just uploaded a new one.

I set time zone and setting is preserved over reboot. Do you do proper reboot? It may be that settings, if you just plug out board, are not correctly stored at that time. Linux keeps file in memory for some time for quicker access (actually, this is more complicated, but enough to understand).

Hello guys,

I tried to run openelec on my OrangePi Plus board. I have the latest version, used the Win32DiskImager to copy the image to the SD card.

When I insert the SD card and plugin the power the green light goes on but there is nothing on my screen (No Signal message).

If I do the power off / power on rutine for a couple of times I manage to get the OpenElec logo screen. But after a few seconds it goes away and a Input Not Supported message is displayed on the screen.

I have tried different HDMI cables and if I remove the SD card the default android is booted and working with no problems.

Could there be any resolution issues? My monitor is full HD, can I try with a lower resolution for starters?
EDIT: in one of my attemps I was able to see the welcome configuration screen. After few seconds the screen blinked for two to three times and it went to Input Not Supported again. As I am able to run android (and in the last past days I have tried with some other linux distros too) with no problems I am quite sure the problem is not in the HDMI cable or my monitor.

How long did you wait at first boot? First boot is kinda slow, but should be finished in a minute or two.

Do you have any serial console? That case you would see the error message or at least the output you could provide us.

@jernej
I'll gladly try in on unit 2 tomorrow, after I get back from the doctors office.
I as a rule I do a normal shutdown from kodi screen, unless the system locks up (for some reason), is the only time I pull the plug before shutdown. After it's shutdown, I pull the plug to ensure power savings.

Ahhh, just noticed on 4/28, the power button and the shutdown command don't actually shut the unit down, rather it goes into  a "standby mode". The Led status goes from green to red, and Yes it retains the customer settings that way. But that not how I'd want it to work. To me Off means Off, Just like when a girl says No.
So, That's not actually turning the unit off, which is a power savings, if you hit the power button in it's suppose off modei, it springs back to life without going through the usual cold startup sequence. to me that's not good.
Have you come up with an easy (safer) way to transfer the applications (and their settings) you've loaded in the last image to the new image. It would save a lot of time and frustration.

@xonex

The bigger the start instruction set for the linux kernel gets, the longer it takes to execuite before it can boot up.

This "shutdown override" to do actually suspend is normal thing in OpenELEC. I think most, if not all, boards behave the same. This is the same behaviour as basically all set top boxes, when you press power button on your IR remote. Maybe I could add some "filesystem sync" command before sleep.

And yes, starting from last release (5/10), there is pretty safe way to update without losing any setting. You can download tar file instead of image and in the FAQ you can read how to upload this file to board to update itself. From this image on, there is an experimental option to enable auto updates or to just manually click update from Kodi to automatically download update (tar) file so you don't have to bother and keep all settings.

On latest image I noticed occasional tearing of the screen (once few minutes). In video and in gui. Anyone else same problem?
It looks as if it shows a wrong frame from the past. Maybe something up with frame buffer?
