You can do that, but Kodi won't be HW accelerated, except if you would make it use external player, mpv. But in that case you will have issues with overlays and controls (forgot which exactly). Also don't forget to set ALSA correctly (force to always use 32 bit format)

FYI.

I did some more tests and found out that is because of YouTube Plug-in.

Ok, great to know.

Can you check if YT plugin is using CPU decoding with pressing "o" during playback? Codec name should have "cedarx" word in it. Also CPU usage would be pretty high.

BTW, this is unofficial port so I don't think they will really want or know how to help you. Kodi devs had bad experience with Allwinner, so they probably don't want to hear anything about them.

Here is a debug log with YT Plug-in pLayback - http://pastebin.com/MbvHktC0
May be you can find answer about CedarX support of it.

Explanation for activity in log file.
1. 20:58:09 - Enabled Debug Logging
2. 20:58:40 - Started cartoon (5 minutes long) at YouTube and left it on itself
3. 21:24:25 - Checked temperature and it was 80

I still will try to get answer from YT Plug-in developer.

It seems that it is using SW (CPU) decoding and that would explain higher temperatures. I don't think that this is YT plugin issue, but unfortunatelly I don't have time to debug it.

EDIT: You might ask it anyway if he somehow forces SW decoding.
