I'm having similar problems.

Does it boot into Android - if you remove the sd card and start it up?

Pretty much tried everything, no HDMI dispay and I cant SSH into it with Putty because it says connection refused. No display with or without the SD card...

So I presume you have found the IP address from your router or whatever.
Can you ping the device - without the SD card in, it should still boot to Android...if you can ping it, then the issues are with display output.
Not sure if you can SSH into Android without installing additional apps - maybe someone else can help?

If you find an image that works - please let us know, as I'm new to the OPIP too...
