Hello,

I am a student of electronic and computer systems engineering and I currently work for a small company as a system administrator. My main job is to maintain the web server and the code of the web application that runs on it, but since it's a small business I also have other responsibilities. One of them is to find ways to boost the productivity of the company by designing and developing computer systems.

Some of the projects that I'm currently working on are the following:

Cloud based surveillance cameras
Open-source ProjectYes
Distribution LicenseMIT or GPL (I haven't decided yet)

The idea is to have inexpensive and easy to repair IP cameras that will be capable of live streaming and will upload the captured footage to the cloud for easy access.

Some of the technical requirements are the following. The cameras will be connected to the local network through an Ethernet connection and they will also get powered by POE. They will support live streaming through HTTP and they will frequently upload the footage to the Google Drive. They will also keep a local backup in a usb stick in case of network failure andthey will try to upload it later.

Currently I had successfully developed and deployed two of them based on the Raspberry PI model B+ plus the CSI camera module of the Raspberry PI. It's been a week now and the cameras seem to work as expected but I'm sure the performance could be better.

I want to try develop a camera based onthe Orange PI and compare its performance and cost to the others. Thetotal cost of one camera based on the Raspberry PI model B+ was around 80. I'm sure the Gigabit Ethernet together with the better CPU with give a good FPS boost to live video stream.

Currently the employees have to check daily the available stock of each product, write it down, go to an available desktop computer and update the database through the web interface of our website. The plan is to develop network based barcode scanners that will help the employees to update the database instantly by just scanning the bar code of a product and typing the quantity of the available stock on a small keypad.

The bar code scanners needs to be connected to the local network wirelessly and able to last without charging for at least a couple of hours. They also needs to be fairly lightweight so that the employees will be able to carry them without much effort and also have an easy to use interface.

The main advantage of the Orange PI over the Raspberry PI is the on-board WiFi module which eliminates the need for external hardware. An other big advantage is the Li-Po Battery support. Power switches are also a nice feature for mobile devices like this one.

I am I huge supporter of open source and I already have published several open source projects on Github (they are mostly about PIC microcontrollers and PHP). I would be more than happy to shareanything I'll be able to achieve with Orange PI with the community.

If you dig passive IR imaging - then yes. I'm really looking for that.

The best barcode scanner depends on your specific needs. If you're looking for a versatile option, consider one that can integrate with a smart engine, which utilizes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and data extraction to enhance scanning accuracy. It's important to select a scanner that offers compatibility with various barcode types, fast scanning speeds, and dependable performance in different environments. Ultimately, the best barcode scanner is one that aligns with your unique requirements, ensuring efficient and reliable data capture.

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new surveys are added- checkbox now each time a comment is added I buy four emails sticking with the same comment. Will there be by any means you’ll be able to eliminate me from that service? Thanks!        topcer88 slot

I realise this is off topic but while your site looks pleasant, it would be far better if you’ll be able to use lighter colors too in the design. This will encourage a lot more scaners come to check it out more often!        topcer88
