Hi - I've been struggling....

sun8iw7p1_android_orangepi_pc_uart0_v0.8.0.rar - MD5 checksum ee968b5c30bd548dadffbc2844f31722
on to the miniSD using Phoenix v3.1.0 all I seemed to get was burn errors. I'd tried other versions as well....

It's been driving me MAD. I've watched youtube video till they are coming out of my bottom!

  • I used a SanDisk UHS-I card 16GB Class 10
  • Under Windows 10
  • Did a FULL FORMAT - not quick under Windows
  • Ran Phoenix v3.1.0
  • Selected .img file
  • Select "Startup" Write Mode
  • It worked without errors

Everytime I followed the instructions on http://www.orangepi.org/Docs/SDcardinstallation.html#Install_Android_OS_image

To first format the card to "Format to Normal" aways appears to cause the errors :-(

OK now to actually running it.

  • Insert into Orange PI PC
  • Switch on
  • Get red light on board
  • Get "ALLWINNER H3 Quad-Core" logo on screen
  • WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES, I rebooted by power-off several times - just takes AGES patience young Grasshopper.
  • An initial screen comes up - click right hand side, then another "OK" (I guess...)
  • Now get to settings and study the last screen grab
  • Click on blocked "A" icon which is "Language & input"
  • Next choose the option at the top
  • Choose your language - SORTED :-)

I struggled through same phoenix crashes.
I believe the formatting  is important.I use SDFormatter. Don't need to do "full" format. "quick" works. Though I do enable "size adjustment".

Works everytime now, no matter what card, e.g. 2gb kingston 4gb samsung 8gb SD, etc...
The rom I use: Beelink_X2-SC_V1.1-Custom_ROM
AND... Kodi works almost perfectly!

Interesting report thank you, where do you get that ROM from?

As an FYI

I noticed that some of "phoenix write errors" are dependent on the card reader being used.

In my case Phoenix always generates a write errors with my laptops builtin SHDC reader and a cheap SHDC only (single device) reader. But an external USB multicard card reader works just fine - all tested with the same SHDC card.....
