such there no mainline support for the Orange Pi Plus, the SoC-Board is useless. I am really sad to buy it.

There has been some patches that have been delivered https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/5/15/505 and their author gave a hint yesterday on how to get them on a system. http://irclog.whitequark.org/linux-sunxi/2015-07-23#13496574. I've not tested this but it should be possible to get something booting.

This is without doubt my #1 request/desire out of the Orange Pi. Here's my $.02 review of the OPI:

HW is excellent-- they've found a way to make a fairly reliable $15PC-- that's brilliant!
SW is a hot mess. If drivers were open, SW could easily not be a hot mess, though.

You listening, allwinner?
