For starters, disclaimer: Nobody tried this before and you might destroy your board in the process.

I suggest that you first download your board schematic. You can find them on orangepi official site. Then you must cut HCEC trace. After that solder wire from PA21 pin to HCEC trace (the part which is still connected to Q2 and R105).

But as I said, nobody tried this and you are doing this at your own risk.

It is supported by software, it's just that it is emulated through GPIO pin. Steven provided this code, which come from Allwinner. Other H3 based Android boxes also use that code for CEC.

It seems that H3 supports HW (e.g. non-emulated) CEC bus, but it is extremely hard to do anything in this area, because Allwinner is hiding HDMI documentation. There is some effort to figure out all registers, but it's missing few cruical bits of informations.

So if you want to wait for HW CEC, then you may wait for a long time.

You can use GPIO independent of CEC. I don't bother to support third party plugins. It's simply too many of them. I rather spend time to work on core features. But if I correctly understand Hyperion working from the graph on their site, currently there is no way to support it, because of missing screen capture functionality (screenshots doesn't work). Anyway, it also uses Dispmanx, which is highly RaspberryPi dependant. So no Hyperion for you for a long time. I will probably write screen capture functionality in the future, but someone else will have to extend Hyperion to support H3 beyond that.

P.S.: Maybe you can use external grabber? I really don't know nothing about Hyperion. And please enough off-topic. This topic is about CEC.
