I installed ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i on OrangePi lite. Plugged in the camera module gc2035 with expansion board and there is no /dev/video0. I have run following commands as instructed by steven zhao:

  1. modprobe gc2035 hres=1
  2. modprobe vfe_v4l2
Copy code

I have uncommented "gc2035" and "vfe_v412" in /etc/modules and restarted the OPi but still /dev/video0 is not there. Please help.
UPDATE: I installed ARMBIAN 5.20 Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.112-sun8i and everything worked like a charm. Only problem is that the image quality is too bad. I have tried unloading and loading gc2035 with multiple options but image quality is not acceptable.

I hope that the bad quality is due to some misconfiguration. I am going to install Android and I will report back with image quality on Android.

UPDATE 2: Tried with android as well. Camera quality is crap and not useable for any real application.

You can try some troubleshoots, if the camera is not working:

Confirm that IP addresses are not conflicting.
Ping the camera and discover it.
Verify camera power & connection.
Update to the Latest Firmware.
Reset the camera to factory default.
