How to read and write simple data from SPI FLASH 看全部

Having an Orange Pi Zero 512KB with legacy kernel (3.4.113).

What would be the right method to read and write data on the SPI FLASH?

The idea is not to boot from it, just to use it to store some variables that need to be independent of the SD card used for the operating system.

Thanks

I think It's a possible with SPI.
There is library for arduino.

I think it can port to OPi/RPI

I ordered W25Q64.I'll try.

OpenWrt no longer fits in 4MB of flash, so current OpenWrt wouldn't even fit in a 2MB SPI.

I would love to at least have some form of bootload (chooser) available in the 2MB SPI, sometime similar to rEFIf or rEFInd to choose another boot device option. It would be nice if it also had the ability to download and flash base OS images directly from orangepi's site.

Spot up for this write-up, I actually think this excellent website wants far more consideration. I’ll probably be again to learn to read a lot more, thank you for that info.        https://kiu.ac.ug
