Hello,
I have been messing around with a few orange pi's. Mainly to run an IoT device and manage it with snap's and ubuntu core. However it seems that wifi isn't working inside the ubuntu core image that is on the download page: http://www.orangepi.org/downloadresources/

ip link lists:
  1. 1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1
  2.     link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
  3. 2: sit0@NONE: <NOARP> mtu 1480 qdisc noop state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1
  4.     link/sit 0.0.0.0 brd 0.0.0.0
  5. 3: ip6tnl0@NONE: <NOARP> mtu 1452 qdisc noop state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1
  6.     link/tunnel6 :: brd ::
  7. 4: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
  8.     link/ether 02:42:c4:84:3a:4c brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
Copy code

Wifi works on all ... partially not on Zero, which has a very bad chip.

Ahh, well the issue i have is with a orange pi zero v1. I got this one specifically because i wanted Ubuntu core. Which orange pi currently only supports on the zero v1. It will be a internet of things device and i don't want big updates or anything unnecessary running.

I do not see an Orange Pi 2G-IOT version is this something that might become supported or is there a technical limitation.

We provide latest Ubuntu and Debian versions coupled with a kernel(s) in a far better state than you will ever find in an image you are trying to use. As I already told, Orange pi zero wireless works ... but so-so due to bad wifi chip/driver and there is nothing you can do about.

Support for Orange Pi 2G-IOT is bad in general, we haven't manage to bring it up to an usable state. There is little to no development.
