@loboris: awesome trying it now.  I will update you.  What distro and architecture are you using (sh ...

I'm running the script on Ubuntu 15.04 64bit, but it should run on any Ubuntu/Debian distribution, you only have to install debootstrap and qemu-user-static packages.
It should run also on OPI, see "If running on ARM (OrangePI)" comment in create_image script.
After building check the *.log file for any errors (some may be ignored).

EDIT: it worked

I was overwriting the default kernel with the one from your vivid tarball.  That got me this error:

Got: Usage: exec run-init [-d caps] [-c consoledev] /real-root /sbin/init [args]
then kernel panic.

When I used the opi-plus kernel in the OrangePi-BuildLinux image it worked...

EDIT: it worked to the linux prompt (but no GUI)

I was overwriting the default kernel with the one ...

If you've cloned from GotHub, there is no need to update the kernel, it is already the newest.
The script creates only the minimal Ubuntu/debian system without any Desktop/GUI.
You can install desired Desktop directly on OPI running one of the included instal_xxx_desktop (in /usr/local/bin)

I'm getting better . Figured out how to change directories and see what they contained. Installed Ubuntu wily. Ran fs_resize. Re-boot. Ran nmcli. Ran install_xfce_desktop. Re-boot. Everything worked untill desktop. No desktop.

@Survive-PI  make sure you have internet connectivity.

Post the result of "ifconfig"

Also, try "ping www.google.com"

what "nmcli" command line did you run exactly?
