Spending more than $50 for ARM toy is little stupid in my hubmle opinion. For $70-80 you can buy cheapest Intel Atom PCs (boxes or sticks) which are usually much more profitable because you can use regular Windows10 or additional Linux/Android and other OSes which are available for Intel CPUs.
Older Bay Trail models are on sale for even less now,
The only reasonable in my opinion is Orange Pi PC for $15 or little more expensive boards but for less than $40. Pi One has too many limitations to deal with for this $5 less and avoiding them will cost additional money, so it is better to buy Pi PC version.

I don't agree. I think a quad core A72 is going to be way faster than a X5 Z8300 Atom CPU. It's true that normal Intel computers have huge advantage about the software part, but then nobody would buy any ARM board thinking that way. I think 60$ is a reasonable price for an A72 board with about 2GB of RAM and maybe some USB 3.0 and a SATA controller. If I wanted to use Windows 10 I would buy a HTPC, but I just want to use Linux. In addition, Z8300 sticks and boards are not 70-80$, those are more expensive. And with 2GB of RAM you're not going to do anything with Windows 10, since it's a piece of garbage which can only work well from 4GB or more.

I think many people would agree of having a powerful ARM board instead of a Z8300 Intel Atom.

That is not at all correct . Even with 1GB RAM, Windows 10 is quite useful. e.g.have a look

I do wonder if trying to make so many different versions is the best use of what money Orange Pi com ...

"Close but no cigar" for zillions of half-baked boards are not a working strategy in the long run. FULLY working boards ( OS/drivers/schematics ) are not nice-to-haves for potential users.
You just cannot beat happy customers !

mmm, it is stated that 1GB even for a 32bits Windows 10 is limited, even in the article. I would say 2GB would be just "ok" for the 32bits version, but a 64bits Windows 10 would not for that amount, not at all. I have a testing desktop computer with 2GB of ram, a core 2 duo fast enough and Windows 10 runs sluggish. It throttles everytime I have 2 applications opened plus the browser. Windows 10 makes it harder to notice that it is running slow because it usually loads or animates things once it can show them, but I can know it is running slow, because the lag is considerable. I tried the same Windows 10 version with a laptop I have and it goes way smoother with 4GB of ram. The cpu is a core i3, but the 1st generation, and it is a laptop cpu so it is almost on par with my desktop one. Even the HDD is faster in my desktop computer but windows 10 isn't. Moreover, if you're using an Intel Atom Z8300 with Windows you should have 4GB or use it just for small tasks, not daily ones. Otherwise, you don't mind it to be slow.
As a counterpart, as I said a quad core A72 with 2GB of ram and correct drivers for Linux would make it a very nice computer for daily use, because Linux takes 1/3 of the ram Windows needs. And you have other benefits using Linux instead of Windows, but of course, if you're a Windows user and can't live without its wide compatibility and software for everything then nothing can be done.
