Orange Pi Zero- Alternate WiFi dongle

I absolutely love the Orange Pi Zero and actually prefer it to my Raspberry Pi.
I'm using ethernet now, but only one slight problem was with the built in wireless
using the xr819 module produced  a lot of write errors.    Downloading was no problem
but logging in via ssh was slower on wifi.

I found the following on github:

Which described the problem. As a wiorkaround I'm using ethernet and have found a USB wireless
N dongle on AliExpress that also works well using Ralink MT7601U chipset.

Has anyone else tried an alternative wifi dongle or found an alternative driver
for the builtin XR819?
