I'm getting a new release available notice, in openelec, for the newer Kodi version release. Has anyone come up with a way to upgrade within openelec yet?

Thanks for the patch.  I'll need a little help to get moving in the right direction.

1) Did you check my source on github? This patch goes to projects/H3/patches/kodi You don't need to apply it, build system will do it during build.
2) I'm pretty sure that your mac supports FAT32. script.bin is on that partition. You can also change it in source, so it will be automatically build (projects/H3/devices/<your device>/sys_config). You should be careful if you are often changing script.bin. You must rebuilt u-boot. Check FAQ for detailed instructions.
3) No, I never used any Android image. AFAIK, Android usually doesn't use root password?
4) OpenELEC will automatically expand ext4 partition at first boot. This is the reason why first boot takes so long. Also, OpenELEC is special distribution, no sudo (single user - root), no raspi-config, etc. I suggest that you familiarize with OpenELEC - check official wiki.

I'm not sure that it is possible ATM, because mainline U-Boot is used instead of Allwinner's one. I think that mainline U-Boot can currently boot only from SD card. Can anyone confirm that?

If you really want to do something like that you can always take a look at older commits and revert changes. I don't want to go back to that mess.

I know that. But I'm telling you that the difference is in U-Boot. He is using Allwinner's U-Boot and I'm using mainline U-Boot, which AFAIK don't have ability to boot from eMMC yet. This is also the reason why LED is not lit during boot.

Big thanks to jernej for providing the OPI community a working Openlec image. I just switched from RPi to OPi and performances are really great, not comparable with a slow RPi. Everything is working great with my LAN setup.
Only CEC and/or IR (samsung) not being implemented prevent me for now to make a full change, my wife won't accept to use an android app as remote control…
I'll keep a close eye on new releases and hope it will work soon!

There is only a little hope that HDMI-CEC will work. Olimex will soon start shipping H3 boards and maybe they will release code for it. Maybe GPIO IR would work, like on RPi. Definitely worth a try.
