Don't underestimate the power of Wifi! My whole home network (including) NAS is on Wifi. (orangpi is wired though as the router is just next to the tv)
I get speeds of above 500Mbps an superlow pings. So yeah, I get why people want Wifi.

Yes. Just try all of them and if something doesn't work, post here output of dmesg .

ummmm, how do you pull a Dmesq out of Openelec?

Nice Star Wars reference. I wouldn't want WiFi for a long haul, but, across my living room to the router, is about 15" which should do fine.  I can't see wasting cable which is also un-sightly across for it.

You probably don't have OPi2. I can tell you that integrated wifi often crawls with few 100 KB/s. It is not a problem in wifi standard itself. Problem is how much additional burden cause cheap wifi dongle to main CPU. I know that on RPi this is a no-go for video streaming SD streams in my usage scenario, much less for HD.

@chasizm,
use SSH (you must enable it in OpenELEC options) or serial port.

@everybody,
I suggest that you embrace this completely opensource solution:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread. ... =2199415#pid2199415

Currently it seems that it doesn't have H3 support but based on the fact that it uses libvdpau-sunxi for video decoding, shouldn't be hard to add support for this CPU. My code has more or less just proof of concept quality, so for anything better it would need fresh start. For that I don't have much time now and I've been under the impression that kodi works well for most of you. I was slightly angry when there was a lot of loud posts how HW decoding is impossible under linux and I just wanted to show that it is not only possible but it can work very well. During the development I realised just how bad this lichee kernel is (ALSA, DISP2, FBDEV, CedarX concept, missing CEC driver, etc.). It gave me a lot of headaches so don't expect any new functionality anytime soon (maybe some kernel tweaks like that for wifi or update to latest U-Boot). If I could done it in 4 months from zero knowledge how OpenELEC and kodi works to today state, someone else could do this also. I learned a lot in this time. Later I will upload latest images so anyone could flash image without compiling. Those who are interested to improve kodi support, kodi-000-H3-support.patch is the only important file to study. Some leaked code which could help with the development could be found on baidu using search term "liballwinner.rar" and "liballwinner_linux.rar". I can guarantee you that if you search enough you can find some gems.

Thanks jernej for the updated builds, however the download links on box.com do not seem to work. If I click on either one - big blue one, or white one with arrow - nothing happens. I've tried 3 different devices and browsers, so I think it's an issue on the server somehow. Can you take a look, perhaps from a private/incognito session where you're not logged into box.com?

Thank you!
