No and AFAIK it will stay that way, because VDPAU was never meant to support encoding.

Probably too late for you, but I had the same problem with no sound on HDMI, and solved it by adding
  1. ao=alsa:device=[hw:1,0]
to ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf
1 ..131415
mobilehome | login | register
Simple edition | Touch edition | PC |
