One time I downloaded a TikTok and got a strange file that wouldn’t open. Why does that happen, and is there any way to avoid weird file formats?

I remember once downloading a TikTok from a random site and ending up with a file that wouldn’t open at all. It made me skeptical about using any downloader again.
