USB boot and Multi-boot for the Orange Pi 5

Whilst we currently have boot options from SD card and NVME/SSD on board, can we please have an option to boot from at least one of the USB 3.0 ports?


Also of note is that because there is SPI flash, multi-boot should be possible as used by Odroid, using their Petitboot option, which adds versatility.


With so many OS options, both official and from the ever expanding community recently we see batocera, FydeOS and JELOS) the ability to run and test multiple OS's without having to either prepare lots of SD cards would be useful and multi-boot from a large capacity drive makes sense to provide versatility.


But for me, boot from USB would be particularly useful right now.

Petitboot does seem quite feasible looking at how Odroid have adopted it for one of their RK3568 boards.

This is exactly what the SPI flash should be present for.

Digging around the Internet I fund that a user, James A. Chambers had some instructions on how to boot from an external SSD, from the top USB 3.0 port using the official images (apparently Armbian and other distros will work but require some additional steps).
