Is Orange Pi PC enough for my need??

Hello all,

I was deciding to buy Orange Pi PC. In India Orange Pi Plus 2 is too much costly & these two are only available here. So I was researching if OPI PC will serve my requirement or not.

Things I have to remember:
(1) I want to run Print Server, Torrent Server, Apache Server with PHP, Max 2 NodeJS Servers & GitLab Server all at a time on it. And yes it will be headless i.e no monitor no keyboard-mouse. I will attach it to my router.

(2) I may also need gpio pins. I will use WiringOP. Hope it has no bug or atleast they can be managed.

(3) I will also use the fex file given in this thread with heatsink & fan cause I have old ones. I live in a place where in summer ambient temp is around 25°C avg. Check this link.

So my questions are as follows.
1. Can I use Orange pi pc when I have to take all above 3 in my mind???
2. Which OS is best???
3. Is WiringOP & the Fex file in that thread are the best or I can consider other??

Fex file customization is critical if you're using Raspbian (which I suggest to keep away at all costs) If you are using Armbian it will come as optimized for your hardware and you won't need to poke around any further FEX files. Of course you can try to modify the FEX file but it would require you to spend a great deal of time for it.

WiringOP is the best choice if you are developing in C, if you need Python support you should use this instead.
If you choose Armbian you won't need any heatsink, fan or modified fex file, as it has already been optimised to run on low temps and increase performance. You will need it if using another OS.

Absolutely suit your needs. You can try Debian, Armbian, Openelec.

And are you using that fex file??? Whats your view on that??

you can use wiringop and gpiopython.
