Made some changes to the config, and now it looks like the /dev/modem0 is a loopback device. Even if i issue the AT+CSQ command, I don't get back an RSSI level within norms.

  1. root@OrangePi:~# wvdial
  2. --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.61
  3. --> Cannot get information for serial port.
  4. --> Initializing modem.
  5. --> Sending: ATZ
  6. ATZ
  7. OK
  8. --> Sending: AT+CSQ
  9. AT+CSQ

  12. --> Sending: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.tracfone","",0,0
  13. AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.tracfone","",0,0
  14. OK
  15. --> Modem initialized.
  16. --> Sending: ATDT*99#
  17. --> Waiting for carrier.

Looks like StraightTalk is getting rid of 2G. So I might have to get a USB wifi modem for this to work.

Awesome Warehouse Robotics Details

What are the main advantages of Autonomous Mobile Robots?

1. More Flexibility
Because Autonomous Mobile Robots rely heavily on onboard sensors and cameras to operate--and not magnetic tape or wires as with AGVs and AGCs--Autonomous Mobile Robots exemplify flexible, agile automation. Autonomous Mobile Robots are not required to follow predefined paths. Instead, they can develop their own routes starting from Point A through Point B within a facility. This makes it possible to avoid obstacles. Autonomous Mobile Robots can also be used to perform new tasks more quickly than other automation technologies, which often require more work and time to reprogram. Check out this Order picking robot info for more.

2. Safety is the top priority
Autonomous Mobile Robots are stocked with cameras and sensors. These cameras and sensors allow the Autonomous Mobile Robot to read and understand its environment. This lets it move around a facility with minimal interruption from infrastructure, people and products. Human operators who operate equipment, such as forklifts, or other machines are not as safe and are more dependent on human input. Autonomous Mobile Robots are not subject to the same dangers as human operators. A human operator may be disoriented or tired, and cause accidents. Autonomous Mobile Robots are ideal for tasks that are repeated frequently, which reduces human error and significantly enhances security.

3. Rapid Implementation
Autonomous Mobile Robots can be set up in just a few weeks depending on the operation. It is crucial to pick the software and warehouse execution program that the units must be integrated with. Even at the higher level, this is a very short period of time, particularly when you consider other options. As a point of comparison, a goods-to-person (G2P) system could take up to a year to fully implement.

4. Ability to scale
Autonomous Mobile Robots are able to be installed within an organization in a simple way. It is possible to follow an approach of modular deployment that starts with a couple of units, and then increasing the number as you need them. This will help you avoid an incredibly high initial cost because instead of buying a huge quantity of Autonomous Mobile Robots in one go it is possible to begin with two or three units and increase the number of units you have in the course of time. This modular deployment lets you free up funds that can be used to invest in other initiatives while you evaluate the impact of Autonomous Mobile Robots on your business and plan your next steps.

5. Easy to Move Between Facilities
Some operations may be hesitant to consider automation options due to the fact that they are aware that a move to a new location is likely in the near future. This reasoning makes sense. Why create a new system when it can be eliminated in the two years after the new facility is constructed? Autonomous Mobile Robots could be beneficial in situations like these to fill in the gaps. Autonomous Mobile Robots are easy to deploy and easily move between locations. They can be used to facilitate automation even in the near term. Alongside operations that are expecting the possibility of a move in the near future, this can also be beneficial for businesses that are planning to set up an interim holiday business.
