oops ... didn't see that reference in the manual.

8GB ; class 10 (for now it only supports 8GB SD
card).Branded TF cards which are much more
reliable

Big detail, right? ... I will try to find different brands as an extra confirmation.  At least, my test data says that 4 and 16 GB are out of the game.

More data ...

SanDisk Ultra 8GB Class 10 SD card -- works ...
Take notice:
SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 10 SD card -- doesn't work

Both are from the same series, the only difference is the storage capacity.

Another important detail:

The real problem is not the class ... neither the capacity, but the consumption.

According from Steven at Xunlong, the problem with 16GB cards is that the machine can't deliver enough electricity for the SD reader to read such types of cards.

Checking quickly with google, I found an arduino reference confirming the differences about SD electricity consumption (https://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=261021.0).  In this case, newer cards consume more than older ones.

There, somebody indicates that the  Lexar 8GB SDHC Card is very good on low consumption and it is, in fact, the first SD card worked for me with the 2G-IOT.

Do somebody has a SD consumption matrix that could guide us about how to obtain SD cards for this machine?  This could help to reduce the problems when trying to make the machine to boot and to have a good working experience.

Hi,

I got the IoT. I have sanDisk 8 Gig U10. I have tried ubuntu on it but i am not seeing any output on putty set for 115200.  The red light stays on but nothing on the screen.  Does the hardware it self output any data?  Can somebody help?

Thanks

This is dependent on the power consumption of SD - CARD.
