So, I finally got my Win Plus and decided to install Ubuntu server on it.
There are few issues I've encountered along the way:
1) When booting, I only get the debug window (TTY1). At the end I have to manually switch to TTY7 every time it boots.
2) apt does not work. I get the following error message every time:
  1. could not get lock <b>/var/lib/dpkg/lock</b>
Copy code
I've tried to check for what's using it at the time, or manually remove locks from apt and dpkg, but the result is still the same - error message.
If anyone had this problem in the past and managed to fix it, please let me know how, and what was the cause of the issue.

It's currently running Ubuntu Server 16.04 off a 16GB SD card. I haven't changed anything except default passwords.

Sorry for a late reply. Just dusted off my OPi Win Plus after doing nothing for almost a year.
I'm using Ubuntu Server Xenial v0.1 from the download section of this website.
I see that nothing has changed since that time and there are still no working distributions for OPi Win Plus (re-tried Android, Ubuntu XFCE, LXDE and server).
Basically devs just made a pretty board that looks good on paper, but does absolutely nothing.

I'm  ...

There is a pretty decent Armbian image with minor troubles:

Mainline support exists up to certain level, but there are too many troubles ... this image https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m64/ might boot, but without network support.
