How effective are Exit Offers in retargeting visitors?

Hi All,

I'm thinking of introducing exit offers on my website. But I'm a little hesitant because I don't want to do something that might hurt my current traffic or visitors. I was going through this article https://www.cloudways.com/blog/how-to-promote-a-product/ which said that exit offers are a great way to retarget visitors.

Could anybody with an experience with them share if exit offers worked for them?
