Why is my Vacuum breaker valve leaking?

Possiblecauses of leaks include wear and tear over years of usage, water freezing andexpanding inside the vacuum breaker valve leading to cracks inside the brassbody or poppet assembly, accumulation of debris, and  deterioration of the valve seal.
