OMXPLayer replacement

Hi,

I played with Raspberry Pi's for a year now and got a set of Orange Pi's recently, so I'm new in this. I see the OS/driver etc difficulties, did some research, got a lot of questions with no solid answers, some options, so I got confused.

What I'm building now is an interactive exhibit, where buttons control video shown on projector. I use:

• OPi One
• Armbian (legacy version as it supports video HW acceleration - as stated in the web)
• A video player
  

Raspberry Pi has omxplayer, which runs without an X Window manager, but it does not support Orange Pi.
Which is the right way to accomplish this? Which combination can this on Orange Pi?

HW acceleration is needed - no X wanted.
