Openelec Build for OPI PC and 2 now with HW decoding

Just wondering. I absolutely love and admire what jernej did with this fork of Openelec for orange Pi and it is really sad that he seems to drop working further with orange Pi and Openelec. I was wondering what would it take to change his mind? We could do a fundraiser of some kind, cause the board is great but there is almost no.support for it software wise.

I explained situation already on another thread here, but let me recap:

Allwinner code has too many issues and non standard interfaces. I became tired dealing with and fixing video issues, so I stopped developing OpenELEC. But don't worry, I just switch my focus to rewriting (mostly hdmi) drivers from scratch, so they offer more functionalities (any resolution possible and autodected, hdmi audio passthrough, proper vsync, etc.). Of course this takes time, so you won't see any activity on my github regarding OpenELEC, but you should see it on other projects, currently U-Boot then on Linux.

And, no thanks, I don't need any money currently, I'm paid good enough by day job. I don't want to be bound by it. I already turned down similar offer. Everything I do is just for a hobby and I want to be free in my free time

Hello. No doubt, jernej did a great job with this Openelec fork. Bringing full multimedia support for those Orange Pi-s. My Opi PC is retired behind my TV for main multimedia source

But i have problems, building image from latest source. I replaced non working links, as desribed here. But compilation gives errors at xbmc part, which i don't understand. This is kind of log:

I tried twice, but have the same error, at the same place. I don't know how to procced further.

I have never seen anything like that... Which distribution do you use for building? If you don't use Ubuntu 16.10 LTS, maybe it is worth a try. I'm using Arch myself and sometimes newest programs just don't want to build the image, which is annoying, but usually easily solvable after searching for a solution on the net.

It was xubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64. I was using lubuntu-16.04.1-desktop-amd64 before and there was no such error, but i don't remember what i installed there. I follow you advice and tried ubuntu-16.10-desktop-amd64. There were some error with u-boot, similar to this (from google):

But after installing this - git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/dtc/dtc.git and some other dependencies like flex, compilation succeeded. Thank's for the advice.

You could actually install dtc from repository. Package name is device-tree-compiler. Didn't I put this info into the FAQ?

I don't see it mentioned in FAQ. But i don't understand what is all about, so maybe it is there, but i can't see it. I haven't seen this error before.

Unfortunately my self build images failed at first boot. This is the massage i see on screen:

sh: can't access tty: job control turned off

Is there any problem with sources? Or i have to look for the problem in me and maybe try with different OS and new copy from git?

Build from source worked well last time I compiled them (when I published update), so I wouldn't say that it is something wrong with them.

And yes, I mentioned dtc issue in FAQ point 10 (note).

since the latest updates on github i can't get a working system back on and don't have the time anymore, i need to say GOODBYE guys, keep up the good work. it was an exciting time to see what a small community can bring on. Keep compiling!
