I tested the SM Player : From 10 test  video files work only one, but even that is not hd resolution . Bad

BTW:
IPTV simple client is an integral part of Kodi's in windows, android....
why should it be otherwise in Linux

Kodi in HD resolution works badly (no hardware acceleration) .With hardware acceleration Openmax goes off.IPTV simple client is not present and can not be installed.

SM Player has hardware decoding and plays 1080p videos butter smooth.
Apart from 1080p in kodi 720p works fine and also working on kodi for hardware acceleration.
You can install the IPTV client if needed. Its not added. Few users have manually added IPTV as per needed.

Thank You.

That's not fair comparing volunteer software projects to Windows.

Accelerated graphics implementation is much harder than you think, and on chipsets like the ones used in most of the Pi-like single board computers the documentation isn't even available to write such drivers.  Part of the reason we're stuck on older 3.x kernels is the lack of this documentation for not just the graphics but the other system components like network devices.

If this is a problem for you then you're in the wrong place.

Pubuntu is a great step in the right direction.  If you want to watch video go somewhere else.

Hello,
I have tested more than 10 video files on SM Player and it works fine. except for the avi files.
If you want i can  post a video of it. If you want all video files to play compile ffmpeg from source and use ffplay. it plays all video formats.
SM Player is Hardware accelerated and HD, Blu Ray video files play.

BTW check the below image to see one of the user compiled the IPTV client and pvr.hts plugin on the Pubuntu.

If SM Player does not interst you then i can't help you out!
If you are so much interested in playing videos why not use Android!?
why argue here?

And apart from video playing do u have nothing else to comment on?

I have Orange pi pc and it is mainly used as a media player for IPTV. The problem with this Orange pi is because in any system (Android, lubuntu, pubuntu, openelec) does not work IPTV without problems. This is what I wrote already at about operating systems and also delivered test file. For Android still works best image for Zidoo x1. But the problems are in HD resolution. In this image HD resolution works, if supported by hardware acceleration of video - ZD codec  (Kodi 14.2 and 15.1). However, problems is with subtitles and vertical or horizontal amplitude of the pictures. Newer Kodi from the website of the Internet does not work HD resolution. In Openelec are problems with certain formats that have a problem with the audio video synchronization. For each issue I have documented test files in this forum that show problems.
