Well if look at cnx-software site is possible to notice funny lines:

CX-S806 / CX-S806S technical specifications:
  • SoC – Amlogic S812 quad core cortex A9r4 @ 2.0 GHz with octa-core Mali-450MP6 GPU up to 600+ MHz
  • Video Output – HDMI 2.0 up to 4K2K @ 60 Hz (TBC), 3.5mm AV jack (composite + stereo audio)

Is possible to see that CPU is 4 core Cortex A9 revision 4 ( In RK3188 used A9r3- for example) , but how can GPU be Octa core which is eight cores if at the end of name of GPU here written ---- MP6 ??????  So it means that GPU has only 6 cores??????  Lookes like  manufacturers started to cheat because on site of Amlogic writtten that GPU has to have 8 cores of  Mali450.
Then better to transition to another Chip away from Amlogic--because if there is 8 cores of Mali450--then productivity will be good enough--but if reduce number of cores--productivity of outdated 450 GPU will fall. So I think then is better to have four cores Mali T760 in RK3288--like more wise.

Also--we all know that Chip has HDMI 1.4b--but they written about HDMI 2.0. Horrible. This is what I do not like the most--faulse ads. Like Chines ads always like to write  faulse ads--like for example everywhere 4K, UHD, H.265--and when you start to test it--not even single mark of support for what is written. I understand why is done--in order to sell--but they do not care that customer afterwords will be really upset. Believe me I know what i say--tested CS968 for support of standarts.

But Anyway--Guys do you think RockChip RK 3288 chip will be any cheaper in Orange Pi2 Plus than Amlogic chips??????  I doubt it. All android boxes nowadays with RK3288 on Ebay cost from 70 till 100$.

It is just shame that Allwinner did not create H5 version of chip with quad cores on CPU side and at least quad cores on GPU side--- which could be equivalent by productivity at least to RK3188....

how can GPU be Octa core which is eight cores if at the end of name of GPU here written ---- MP6 ??????

The explanation is here: http://limadriver.org/Hardware/:
-> The Octa-core Mali-450MP6 GPU has 8 GP (Geometry Processor) and has  6 PPs (Pixel Processors).

Can we compare it with reals cores (6) and threads (8) ?

WEll you are right but not completely. THanks for link. Mali450 has 1 Vertex processor and up to 8 Fragment Processors. It is just architecture of GPU which ARM decided to follow. http://www.arm.com/products/mult ... ics/mali-450-mp.php

But the thing is--does not matter what architecture is-- If they like to count by number of  FRagment Cores--fine--but as far as I understand--in Mali 450 can be only counted FRagment Cores--not VErtex--because there is only one Vertex Core. And if Amlogic site says that CPU has 0cta cores on GPU--which is 8, and when in Advertisment they write MP6--then definately something wrong somewhere...

But the interesting happens when we transition to 600, 700 amd 800 series. Cores become unified and called Shader Cores.  http://www.arm.com/products/multimedia/mali-performance-efficient-graphics/mali-t760.php

You're right, even Intel and AMD confuses when we try to compare. For example, the way to calculate PDT for intel and AMD is different, and intel underestimates their values.
So I think it's the same for the others companies, they try to sell 8 cores but in reality it's 8 'pseudo' cores, or worth...
They don't speak about the difference between geometry processor and pixel processors...
It's so technical that customers can be easily dupe !
In your link, they say: Microsoft Windows compliant for Direct3D® 11.1
Does Windows works with a ARM processor ?? Hum... not I know.
The same, Open GL ES is not Open GL.

It could be cool that we know a little what is the think of Steven about this, and what should be his personal preference for the future CPU/GPU of Orange Pi Plus! (without necessarily reveal precious secrets :p)

If Orange Pi 2 plus use RK3288 with 2GB DDR and 8GB EMMC flash.  How much Orange Pi 2 plus has?

Wifi and bt onboard.

Sound awesome to me specs of future board--I think 2GB is already really essential. Wi-Fi, BT and RK3288--dream of every enthusiast.

I just wonder--when it will be ready--lets say in month or two--How do you think--how much it would cost? How much would add to cost Case and PSU ?  Would it have Cooler on CPU by default or will be necessary to buy separately?

Agree--sounds kind of like weird to hear that ARM CPU can support Direct 3d. But actually since lately I heard that AMD CPUs deployed in its architecture ARM a5 cores for security trusted zone and since the latest news that Intel Atom CPUs will have as GPU Mli400 cores---I do not wonder anymore to anything....

t--Sd CArd spec will be SDXC?

Edited by OrangePiLinux at 2015-3-29 22:48

Cool I already want it--will be really awesome machine. What I like the most -- HDMI 2.0. Finnaly 4K60 will become reality. Actually does RK32888 support USB 3.0 natively--just forgot. Probably no--but 2.0 also got alot of power.

Also what interests--- SD Card spec will be SDXC??? So will allow to use SD cards bigger than 32GB in size?

LVDS means DSI interface for connecting LCD Touch SCreen Displays like in Tablets?

Wow
Thanks Steven for this scoop !
I imagine the price will reveal later... when the time comes... Please, not more than 65$ !!
Another thing: is a battery interface will be planned or I can say goodbye at a battery saver app ? :p
