Yes, but not for unnecessary ones.

For example, if only RPi Foundation put two or three ports of USB female Type A there instead of the currently a micro USB,
it would only add cost only few cents (?) for them.
But they don't, so then the user will have to get some USB powered hub ($10?) and cables ($2 each?),
it will add cost $15 (?) for the user.

And similar case for the HDMI, and the wifi.

And multiply the difference with the number of user (1,000,000?). You got a big number.

(Or it's me misunderstanding the usage of this board.)

what you need is a hdmi cable for that
and a keyboard(you have one probably)
"not nessecary for work" and wifi (i payed for mine 1$ and it works fine with my ubuntu pc)
if you want wifi you buy a powered hub
but you dont need wifi,if you are making a tiny project that needs a microproccesor(the zero is made for that m8)
so its made for compatibility

i bought chip beacuse i need something small with internet for my project
its 14$ with shipping for me

As a matter of fact presently  Orange Pi is the best  " bang for the buck" when you consider the price tags and the performance it offers ... H3 support is getting more mature/stable day by day ... all other recently launched cheap SBCs (like two of them mentioned in this thread above) are either with bare minimum hardware or with lower performance CPUs ...

Great news is that very soon you will get two new Small SBCs (All winner H3 based) from Orange - Pi with much lower price tags and most hardware peripherals retained and i can bet that the price/performance/peripheral ratio will be such that you will love them .
In past I too was against Steven`s idea of releasing  new hardware versions of Orange Pi boards every now and then (with not much done on software/drivers front)  BUT this time I am with Steven as these two up coming boards will place Orange PIs among top SBCs vendors/provider .... so stay tuned ...
