Yes, 3.7v battery(1 cell lithium battery)
and with proper configuration i think it can charge battery when A20 soc goes idle (like tablets and phones). At this moment if you poweroff system with battery plugged it restarts CPU

Gaara, If you connect a Sata Drive, you'll Have to Provide hell a lot power :C also i don't think the battery would last a Longer :c umm also you need batteries which are slim in size. So these these batteries provides a voltage of 3.7 . If you connect 2x of these in Series it will give you 7.4V but the it will not last a longer. So you'll have to spend a bit more money if you're really looking for slim batteries.
idk if i sound stupid. But if you use 4x of those batteries which i mentioned in the first post, you'll get something like that in the pic and the capacity would be more. :v
For my project, I would like to use a SSD, I think less glutton-energy than HDD.
I don't know if it's possible, but I have seen this, 7.4V (hope the link will work), or this other one (3.7V). There are also 14.8V models, @10000mah. (here)
To come down the voltage, maybe a step-down can be used, for example this one (for 14.8V battery)
Back the KickStarter now for 24pounds and get one in May...hopefully... 2-3 months isn't too bad... oops, didn't see the next posts, built in charge controller on the Orange PI...don't need to buy the fancy Raspberry expansion if that is all you need... Note to self...read all posts before replying. Learning so much...can't wait for my Plus to arrive...

I think SATA power connector is out of Orangepi battery board.
5V of sata power connector are directly routed to 5V DC orangepi board connector.
Best choice for your system is a power supply with battery with 5 and maybe 12v dc outputs
Yes, I think you're right. I won't connect the SATA on the board, but directly from the 5V source (battery or charger)
So, to simply: 12V source -> screen
-> step-down*-> 5V -> Pi -> Hub -> USB devices
-> SATA drive
-> Hub
*step-down, or battery if there's 5V 2A output. I don't know yet
