Jernej

Do you think there will be a version of OpenELEC or LibreELEC for the new Orange Pi PC 2 Board.

If you think it is possible what is the timeframe you anticipate?

Thanks

It all depends if there will be correct libraries at disposal. It won't be soon, definetly.

Thanks for the reply Jernej.

There is a version of LibreELEC for the Odroid C2 which uses an Amlogic S905 SoC. Is this in any way similar to the H5 being used on the Orange Pi PC 2?

No, similarity begins and ends with GPU and CPU core types. Everything else is different.

Jernej,

Do you mnd going into the technical issue holding back the H5 Orange Pi PC2 version of Openelec.
I love the H3 version it does everything I need except Play 1080p HEVC X265 10 Bit Video.

I was hoping the H5 chip would be more prowerful and be able to decode 10 Bit HEVC.

I know you have explained in other forums some technical explanation as to why the 10 bit may not work  but I would like to know exactly what Allwinner and Xunlong need to supply in order to make the H5 Board work with Openelec.

As I said, there is no indication that H5 supports 10 bit HEVC. I checked datasheet and user manual multiple times. Of course this may be copy/paste error, but don't hope too much.

For one, there is no mali450 r5p1 fbdev driver available for now. Don't worry,  I'm in contact with Steven.

Thanks Jerjej.

So it would seems we are months away from even the first working Openelec for the Orange Pi PC2.

I have learnt a lesson with Xunlong and next time I wil wait for working software before I buy anything again from them.

Maybe, maybe not, we'll see.

Isn't usually good to wait a bit before buying product which was just released and observe early adopters reactions/responses (generally speaking) ?
