Hi all,

I would like to tell my opinion.

Wonderfull hardware without software is useless...
Please compare to company with an apple in logo, average hardware with good software + marketing = success...

Steven, can you please focus your attention more to software, please?

I am thinking, that software needs to be more developed at this moment, after that, why not to create a 'dedicated' in 3 sizes: LCD 3' 5' 7' + touch screen support - without 1000+ hours spent on the GOOGLE to fing how to...

I can not see any products in your store like that or I can not see any 'ready to go' case studies or 'HOW TO' use other hardware with Orange PI on the forum...

Other boards have many stuff like that, I am afraid, without this - this fantastic board will die soon due to lack of stuff, becase more that 80% users cannot re-compile KERNEL, or know how to use in example LCD etc. without manual... Not all of us are happy to spent 1000 hours on GOOGLE to find a solution how to... I like make fun with this board, to create a MAME console with proper joystics (like from coin-op machines), I like to play with LINUX, but I do not like to be MAD because of: old binaries, KERNEL, drivers, compatibility problems, etc...

Kind regards,
dr_hans

@dr_hans
You can not compare apple with allwinner realy.
Apple devices are overpriced and allwinnner is low cost.
Due the fact that it's cheap there is no investment in the development of an appropriate SDK and not taken into consideration even to make an effort to port to a newer kernel nor support for mainline.
Instead take what it's already "working" and a patch here and a patch there adapt somewhat. add a driver disp2, disp3 and so on.
Result, a shameful old thing that nobody wants to touch.
Boards:
orangepi plus, olinuxino A20, cubieboard A10, mele A2000 .....

@fritz

The best board without support and development have no chance to be popular and of course creating a sufficient income to the business... more income = more boards are sold = more money for development etc...

I hope so Orange Pi support will take more attention to software soon... because is no sense to buy more powerfull hardware... without software...

I concur.  Until the software side is fixed, I think there is little reason to continue on the hardware side.

Hi, H64 is very good news,

Can you give info about price and performance?

H64 and H3 benchmark info?

Thanks.

Sorry but H64 is very BAD news. No mainline kernel support. Quite frankly I wouldn't buy anything based on a SoC which is not listed on http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort

Orange pi already have boards with H3, why not to try A83t octa-core like banana did (same cortex a-7)? Good support in the kernel and much more powerful.
So in common, plus 2 is cool, but with 8 core it's will be better.

Maybe reason to use H3 is Mali GPU?

I'm a bit disappointed about a new "powerfull" board...it really scary me
It's like build a ferrari or lamborghini, with a sidecar engine
And if the producer is not the first to support the community, why the community must support the producer?
As home server we can buy an atom dual core mini-itx board for 50$, wich use x86/64 bit os with standard repos, and for domotic we can buy arduino or a ras-pi, wich has better support.
The others fruit-pi are only good to replace a debian-nslu2 for the moment, and not much more....imho.
OrangePi A20, with Qbee-X_testing

Still waiting for refund/replacement of no working op+2e bought on 11/11 >_<...really serious company
